Mi'kmaw Lodge has, over the last several years, assisted individuals and families to deal with the devastating effects of chemical addictions. A great many clients have passed through our doors since we opened in 1986, and we are proud of our record of achievement. Our staff have witnessed many changes in the addictions profile over the years as we have moved from alcohol addiction to soft drugs, then to hard drugs, and prescription drugs. Also, we have many clients who face dual addictions. Mi'kmaw always strives to keep abreast of new developments in the addictions field so that we can provide a quality program for the people we serve. Our treatment programming is always designed with the client in mind, and much of the programming in place today is a result of input from the people we serve.

Mi'kmaw Lodge Background

Nestled at the foot of the Eskasoni Hills, overlooking Holy Family Parish and the beautiful Bras d'Or Lake, Mi'kmaw Lodge is the picture of peace and tranquility. Built in 1986 by local Eskasoni tradesmen, the Lodge houses 15 residents over a 35-day treatment cycle.

A homey reception area and friendly staff welcome residents to the Lodge. The main floor contains office spaces, treatment rooms, a therapy room, and a modern kitchen and dining area. The second floor is the client living area and contains several bedroom, a small self-service kitchenette, a non-denominational chapel, a client lounge and resource room, and a recreation area. The basement houses the NADACA main offices, and a large meeting and recreation room.

We have several outbuildings on the premises including, a gazebo, a teepee, and an open air function house to allow clients to enjoy the open air and the beautiful view.

"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is the victory over self."
