Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, the Cook/Housekeeper will be responsible for menu preparation, meal planning, preparation of meals; placing food orders and maintaining inventories, and is responsible for the general upkeep and cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room areas. Will also assist with general housekeeping duties. The hours for this position are from 10. am to 6 pm. Daily.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed Grade 11 with two (2) years’ experience preferably in institutional food service.
- A strong desire to work in the addiction field.
- Food handling and safety certificate or be able to obtain it successfully.
- A working knowledge of First Nations language, culture and spirituality.
- A self-starter and make decisions in the planning and preparation of daily meals.
- Flexible in adapting to ever changing needs of clients (special diets).
- Knowledge of the proper use and care of kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Able to develop a well balance and nutritious four (4) week meal plan, as per Canada’s Food Guild.
- Maintain inventory control, proper storage of foods and place food orders as needed.
- Display courtesy and tact in dealing with food suppliers, delivery people and clients on a daily basis.
- Must show evidence of actively practicing and maintaining a sober lifestyle.
- Willing to take relevant training courses.
- Have 2 professional references.
